WordPress Pingback Notifications
A WordPress pingback notification serves two purposes. The first is to let you know that another site has linked to a post on your blog. The second is to give you the option (by approving it) to reciprocate the link. The majority of the time, the links are from spam sites that link to your company website posts for the single purpose of getting you to accept the pingback so their site will have an incoming link from your site. Many WordPress websites and blogs are set to automatically accept pingbacks, and the spammers are relying on your site to have the improper settings to ensure they are able to link through the pingback process. They're counting on your mistake!

For companies that are interested in posting company news and articles that are more SEO friendly than for community discussion, the easiest way to handle your pingbacks is to just delete (trash) them. Or, if your company would prefer not to receive notifications when people link to your posts, a setting can be set to simply turn off pingback notifications. Bloggers can still link to your posts but you will not be notified nor will you post a return link to their blog posts.

Gibbs Design can help you understand the Wordpress blog and website process with more precision and depth. Visit our contact page to ask questions regarding your blog and how we can help ensure that your company website is installed with the best settings for the world wide web.

Create Memorable Messages When Advertising
Be bold. Companies spend a lot of money on advertisement so it should be memorable at the very least.

It is important that when you create a new website that you consider a marketing package that includes the redesign of your business cards and other marketing material. Sales Letter Suggestions
Sending sales or information letters to your clients or prospective clients is a great form of advertisement, but online newsletters need to be structured properly in order to be useful to your audience members. Below are several items that should be considered when creating an online advertisement or newsletter.

1) Consider the demographics of your audience. Are you providing information to a predominately male or female audience? Are you readers young or old?

2) Create attractive images to supplement redundant information. Motivate your readers to continue reading by adding aesthetically pleasing images. The age old saying "Everyone judges a book by it's cover" applies to your online advertisement. If it's pleasing to the eye your much more likely to attract a loyal audience.

3) Provide pertinent information so that your reader will want to respond IMMEDIATELY! If you do not get a an immediate response you may never get a response at all.

4) Understand the concept that there is a thing as too much content. We are in an era where our audience members are overloaded with information on the Internet. Try not to create lengthy newsletters that bore your audience. Provide short, concise information that is to the point to prevent your readers from having to search for something useful.

5) Finally, (and most importantly) make sure that your email list is compiled of valid email addresses that have been collected through a double opt-in, opt-out process. Not only are violations of current SPAM laws an issue but people that do not sign up for your newsletters simply do not want to be bothered. Pride yourself in the fact that you (and your company) are respecting their privacy and the law. People simply don't want SPAM.

Consider the above when creating your online sales and newsletters and contact Gibbs Design if you are have any questions.
